Semifinalists Confirmed – Blomdahl Eliminated

The 3-Cushion Individual European Championship in Ankara, Türkiye, are entering their decisive phase – without defending champion Torbjörn Blomdahl. The Swedish former world champion was defeated today in the quarterfinals by Belgian player Eddy Merckx.

Merckx took control from the start and created some distance between himself and his opponent with a run of twelve points. Blomdahl tried to close the gap throughout the match but was ultimately unsuccessful. After 26 innings, his dream of defending the title was over.

In tomorrow’s semifinal, Merckx will face his compatriot Roland Forthomme, who overtook Italy’s Marco Zanetti in the final stretch of their quarterfinal. The audience..."
